I don’t know if this fundamental issue is really a rumor or not, because it’s completely plausible that Gaben would release Steam on the popular platform and might even have been mentioned by Valve in the past.
What makes it a rumor is the fellow it’s originating from and the info he gives: Michael Larabel says he was visiting Valve yesterday, and scared up some details on the Linux port of Steam.
Kotaku reports: “Larabel did at least get the basics out via his Twitter account, saying not only is Valve working on Linux-compatible titles, but that Steam itself is coming to the platform.”
Great work, guys. They also say that he’ll be posting more info today, after he gets his thoughts together and written down. That could be code for “make some believable shit up,” but we’d bet this turns up in some form or another soon enough.
