After weeks of teasing character art and other such goodies, Double Fine and Sega have officially revealed The Cave, a side-scrolling, multi-character adventure game coming to PC and consoles sometime next year, under the expert talent Ron Gilbert.
You’ll be playing a random assortment of adventurers, including a scientist, a monk, a knight and a time traveler, as they explore the cave. Which can talk, unlike your protagonists. Three of your characters will delve deeper into the cavernous mess, all possessing skills vital for advancement. The game is beatable with any combination of characters, though unlockables and such are reliant on playing as specific ones.
Ron Gilbert’s got that certain touch that should make this game shine, and it already has me intrigued. The partnership with Sega is odd, but who cares? Who’s up for exploring The Cave?
