A listing spotted on GAME’s website (the link has since been taken down) by a NeoGAF user suggests that a Ghost Recon game titled Ghost Recon: Final Mission may be in development for Playstation Vita. According to the screenshot Ghost Recon: Final Mission is slated for release in 2012. If this is true 2012 could end up being a huge year for the Ghost Recon franchise as Ghost Recon: Future Soldier also released just a few days ago on the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 platforms. Also let’s not forget Ghost Recon Online, which GP Editor Chris thought very highly of.
While games in the Ghost Recon franchise are third person shooters they focus much more on strategy elements and controlling a squad than just hiding behind cover and controlling one character .Ghost Recon: Final Mission would join the Playstation Vita’s growing list of shooters including Unit 13, Uncharted: Golden Abyss and the unreleased Resistance: Burning Skies.
So far Ubisoft has been a huge supporter of the Playstation Vita, with games such as Rayman Origins, Lumines: Electronic Symphony and many more. It wouldn’t be a surprise if Ubisoft had some more PS Vita titles up their sleeves. I would expect Ghost Recon: Final Mission to be announced at E3 during Sony’s Conference.
We here at GamePlox think that Ghost Recon: Final Mission is indeed real, what do you think?
