Nintendo Power Reveals Castlevania: Lords of Shadow-Mirror of Faith

We’re only days away from E3, and we’re seeing more and more rumors and leaks. They’ll keep coming until the minutes before the big 3′s conferences, as proven by Nintendo Power’s premature ejaculation of a new game, surely meant to be a big surprise at either Nintendo or Konami’s conferences.

Remember when we reported on rumors about a new Castlevania game on the 3DS called “Mirror of Faith,” and a sequel to the recent console title Lords of Shadow? Well, now we have both– combined! Castlevania: Lords of Shadow-Mirror of Faith certainly has the most ridiculous name on the 3DS, but it’s definitely something to look forward to.

Knowing that it’s in development by Mercury Steam, the makers of Lords of Shadow, and in the vein of the DS Castlevania titles, I have high hopes for this little guy. Hopefully they’ll wow us at E3 with a spectacular reveal or a tie-in promotion including all the Twilight movies on the game cart in 3D. *sigh*

Now that you mention Twilight, wasn't the 3DS supposed to get 3D movies eventually?

DcalebX Yep. They've done some simple trailers, but full movies have been expected for a while now. I know that the Dead or Alive movie and the RE movies are supposed to be coming on the cartridges of upcoming games, but that's not really the same as simply buying movies.

It's really unfortunate that this game has been revealed to not be a Metroidvania.  I'm sure it won't be bad, but I've been itching for an excellent Metroidvania recently, and this game won't scratch that itch.

Veit Can I make a suggestion for you to keep you eye on? Drinkbox Studios is making a new downloadable title named Guacamelee, in the vein of Metroidvania games; they've cited their goal to "build upon the classic open-world, Metroid-vania style of games."

It's hard to really say much about it, since little is known, but it certainly looks promising. It seems like a mixture of Shank, Outland, the typical Metroidvania layout, and Mexican/Wrestling lore with co-op elements.

GamePlox Oh, I saw that at PAX East, I had completely forgotten about it!  Justin McElroy was really excited about it, I remember.  I'll definitely keep my eye on it, thanks for the heads up.

Veit Those McElroy brothers know their stuff.
