Japan development studio Nippon Ichi, best known for their work on the Disgaea series, has detailed their upcoming Playstation Vita game that was teased in magazines all throughout Japan. The wait would not be long however, as this week Dengeki has posted the name, release date and more information about the game.
The game is titled Tokushu Houdoubu, or “Special Report Division.”, the genre of the game is “adventure” but the game will have many more gameplay elements than a traditional adventure title in Japan. *Japan’s definition of an adventure title is much different than America’s, for instance in America games from the Uncharted series would be considered an adventure game, while in Japan they consider an adventure game to be a visual novel. Basically Special Report Division for the Playstation Vita will be similar to the Phoenix Wright series seen on the Nintendo DS, or Corpse Party from the Playstation Portable.
Special Report Division is all about reporting, and to be more specific, T.V. reporting. Being a game that focuses on T.V production, Special Report Division will have systems that allow players to experience television production. Nippon Ichi worked hard to make the game feel authentic and cooperated with a television studio to do just that.
Special Report Division will be released in Japan on August 23, priced ¥6,090 ($76.99 USD) at retail and ¥5,000 ($62.99 USD) as a download. So far there has been no word on any form of localization.
