Guacamelee Is a Sony Exclusive Title, Thanks to the Pub Fund

It was only yesterday I found myself talking about Guacamelee, the upcoming “Mexican-themed co-op-multiplayer dimension-swapping Metroid-vania beat-em-up platformer,” from Drinkbox Studios. There wasn’t much known about the game, and I guess there isn’t much known now, either, but it has been revealed that it’ll be launching exclusively on the PSN for the Vita and PS3.

This is thanks to the Pub Fund program Sony initiated years back, in which they essentially offer finances for up-and-coming games in return for exclusivity and the like. Seeing as Drinkbox’s entire catalog of games have released on the PSN first, this shouldn’t be too shocking.

This looks like yet another stellar game for portable play, and I know we’re in for a good time after wallowing in the glory of Tales from Space: Mutant Blobs Attack!. Look forward to more info, including what system-specific features the title will have, during E3 and beyond.

More info can be found here at the Playstation Blog.

I think I would be really, really mad about this if I didn't own a PS3.

Veit Do you have a 3DS? It seems that some rumors are saying the new Castlevania also employs some form exploration, albeit not enough to satisfy some fans. It's in the middle of Linearvania and Metroidvania, I'd say.

GamePlox I've actually been waiting for the killer app that would push me over the edge.  There are games that I want, but nothing so much as to get me to spend the money.  Castlevania might be that, I'll have to see what they show at E3.
