Harmonix Teases Three “Triple A” New Games

Harmonix has been through a little bit of a rough spot in the past, what with Viacom selling them off and the music games series taking a huge hit. Nonetheless, the developer has dredged on, still raking in the cash from Rock Band DLC and reaping the benefits of creating one of the few good Kinect game series, Dance Central.

That said, the developer has a lot more in store for the gaming world. Harmonix’s director of communications John Drake teased a few new Triple A IPs outside of the already announced Dance Central 3 and Rock Band Blitz. During the latest Harmonix Podcast, he stated: “Dance Central and Rock Band are kind of our big established IPs. And man oh man are we working on multiple – like, more than two – new triple A IPs, right now that we can’t talk about at all.”

Some more interesting tidbits of info:

“None of them are Rock Band or Dance Central titles. It’s not a previous game. It’s not Led Zeppelin Rock Band (Better get on it, guys). This isn’t – I’m not talking about Rock Band 4. I’m not talking about the next Dance Central game. I’m talking about new, crazy stuff.”

“Some of them are music games, some of them are not full-on rhythm action games. Some of them are brand new things that we created from our gut and brains here at Harmonix. Some are things that we’re expanding the universe of.”

We’ll “hopefully” hear more about these mystery products in a year or so, and Drake said that there’s always a chance new Rock Band stuff, outside of Blitz, can come out of the woodwork, too. Harmonix has always been a stellar developer in my opinion, so it’s great to hear they’re streching their creative wings and continuing work on their established series.
