A little while ago, there was news of a collaboration between Overkill and Valve with a project juxtaposing Payday & Left 4 Dead. Now, a trailer titled Payday: The Heist – No Mercy has popped up on Overkill’s youtube channel, and though it was removed, like, sonic-fast, it’s been uploaded by dozens of other users.
The clip’s info says the episode will be a prequel for L4D. Apparently, it all started with a heist in Left 4 Dead’s Mercy Hospital. The trailer shows off an intense gunfight with the law that have come to stop the hospital hijinks, though that’s about all it shows. Oh, and the flashlight-hallway shooting from L4D, too… just with people instead of zombies on the other side of the light.
It’s difficult to tell if this will be a new game or just a map, but I’ve got a hunch it’s the latter, since it clearly mentions one locale. The problem is, if it’s got a story attached to it, it seems more likely to be a standalone experience that combines the mutliplayer aspect of Payday with the lore of L4D. Since it’s definitely non-canonical, anything could happen, of course. What do you think?
