If you live in Australia, I’m sorry there’s no doubt that the lack of a “mature” rating for video games has stung pretty badly over the years. Instead of the government being reasonable, and realizing people other than children played video games, any title with overt violence or otherwise “inappropriate” content was either heavily edited or outright banned. What is it, like, the 1600′s over there?
Well, it’s time to rejoice, Aussies. It’s officially been declared that the federal parliament would suspend their stint with mental retardation and pass a rating intended for people older than 15, the “R 18+.” It’s the same thing as an “M” or “Pegi 18,” just a few years late.
Here’s hoping, dear friends whose toilets flush in the opposite direction, that all those games you’ve missed out on in the past find their way to you inexpensively, and that the future for our favorite medium is bright and in a store near you.

Took them long enough, jeez. So many great games that didn't get an Australian release or had to be dumbed down so that they weren't too "mature" for an Aussie audience.
