Good Old Games (gog.com), a website dedicated to bringing gamers classic games both at a good price and DRM-free, announced a new promotion today. The “Battle of the Games” is an event during which two games will be pitted against each other each day to garner the votes of GOG users – the winning game will be on sale the following day for nearly unbeatable prices. Things have been kicked off today with Myst: Masterpiece Edition going up against (and at the time of this writing slightly edging out) The 7th Guest. Never fear if your chosen game doesn’t win, however – while the winner will get a 60% price cut, the runner-up will still be 40% off, so you can snag any games that interest you for little more than the cost of a soda.
I probably sound like an advertising robot right now, but that’s because I love GOG and what they’re doing. They’re proving that all gamers really want are good games at good prices without frustrating DRM, and they’ve had my support for quite awhile (I’ve bought a significant amount of games on their site that I wouldn’t be able to get my hands on otherwise). Check out their main website to see what games they have that you might be interested in, and check out the promotion site to see which games will be dirt cheap tomorrow. Game on!
