Do you know of the Slenderman? It’s arguably one of the spookiest memes to ever be created; a tall, ominous figure that has the ability to stretch himself awkwardly, steals children, conceals himself in any environment and penetrates your very soul. Well, now you can welcome him to your favorite medium of entertainment!
Parsec Productions, whom I’ve honestly never heard of until now, have released the beta of their game Slender, which is all about our ol’ pal the Slenderman. You really don’t do much; you’ll wander around a forest, collecting some notes. The catch? You only have a flashlight, the notes are all foreboding warnings about the Slenderman and his morbid abilities, and he’s out there with you, hunting you. Sound scary enough?
The beta for the game is available for free right now onPC and Mac, and is of much better quality than I would have imagined. Truthfully, the idea of the Slenderman never really bothered me, but that all changes when the concept is applied to a survivalist video game. I think I’ll play this a little later tonight, when darkness falls and the house is silent. Could it be scarier than Amnesia?
