DayZ has sold more copies of Arma2 than Arma2 managed to sell on it’s own, so it’s not surprising that the mod will be branching out into its own standalone project. Arma’s developer Bohemia Interactive will kindly act as publisher, with the original development team working on making the game into its own full product that doesn’t require a bunch of workarounds to enjoy.
Dean Hall, the lead dev, has revealed that the game will follow in the footsteps of games like Minecraft: there will be rapid, significant updates along with a large discount for people supporting the title from its Alpha stage onward. More importantly for those of you who already have the mod: developments and updates made to the standalone game will be done in parallel with the mod.
