Hot on the heels of the first excellent cross-platform pinball game for the Vita, Zen Studios has announced that Zen Pinball 2 will be maniacally bouncing to both PS3 and Vita on September 4th in Europe and North America. Not wanting to be the low on the score boards, Zen has made sure that Zen Pinball 2 platform will have cross-platform play between devices, with all DLC compatible between the two.
Better yet, the game will launch with 26 tables available at release, and is completely free if you already own Zen Pinball or Marvel Pinball, acting as a patch of sorts. Zen Studios has this to say on their blog: “Zen Pinball 2 is totally FREE! Simply download it and import your tables from Zen Pinball and/or Marvel Pinball. You can also purchase any tables you don’t already own, as all 26 tables will be available at launch!” So it seems that the shell is free, and any tables already owned are imported. This means that, if you own either title on PS3, those tables will be free for your use on the Vita, too.
If you’re a fan of PopCap games, Zen has also teased a PopCap mystery table available as DLC for the 360′s Pinball FX 2 and Zen Pinball 2 during the game’s launch week. The table hasn’t been unveiled, but if you wait until PAX Prime, the company will spill the likely Peggle-flavored Plants Vs. Zombies beans.
