We’ve written about Ripstone Publishing’s recent PlayStation-centric efforts in the past, bringing games such as Pure Chess to the PS3 and Vita and announcing partnerships with several indie devs to bring their games to PS consoles, such as new entries in the Knytt and Big Sky series. And, if you live in Europe and are a PlayStation Plus subscriber, you’re in for an indie-flavored treat.
Ripstone has revealed that they’ve partnered with Sony to bring Knytt Underground, Big Sky Infinity and a yet-to-be announced title to the subscription service free of charge at launch, playable on both the Vita and PS3. Sure, we don’t really know much about these games, let alone when they’ll be launching, but free is free!
Perhaps more interestingly, the games are part of a new promotion entitled “PlayStation Plus Presents,” which “searches for the very best independently developed titles and allows them to be downloaded on the service at no cost for eight weeks after launch.” That’s definitely good news for games that might need a little help getting exposure, and great news for folks that are sick of buying things day one only for Plus to give them away several weeks later.
We’ve contacted Ripstone to see if these titles will be also promoted in North America, as well as for release information.
