Valve has revealed a new initiative involving major updates set to hit Steam, with the very first one detailed today. Called “Game Hubs,” they’re hoping to centralize any and all information regarding a specific game in one handy spot.
It’s not just some lame media congregate, either– Game Hubs will be bringing together user-created content, as well, so the whole community can prosper. The update will ”highlight the most popular user-created screenshots, videos, and Steam Workshop items as rated by the community and combine it with related news, discussions, and comments for the game all in one central location,” according to Valve’s Doug Lombardi.
Beta access to this, and additional features to be revealed this week, will start up in the near future. I like this idea, not only because it highlights community effort over the overwrought mass media sites but because it seems like a natural evolution for digital services. What other features would you like to see come to Steam?
