There was some pretty significant buzz a few days ago regarding one of Square Enix’s famously stupid countdowns, with the image background and text of the clock bearing a striking resemblance to the company’s beloved DS game The World Ends with You. People were hopeful that it was a sequel, but Square Enix themselves leaked what it actually was on their Japanese eShop: a port of the game to iOS. Just what you all wanted, right?!
The news slipped out via a soundtrack revealed that the game was getting ported, and though SE deleted that as fast as they could muster, it didn’t stop the internet from taking a billion screencaps while simultaneously weeping tears of anger.
So, there’s no sequel yet. Who says that the company isn’t just gauging consumer interest very carefully with a safe iOS launch first? Of course, that’s probably not it, but keep dreaming, fella.
