While the world desperately awaits news on Final Fantasy Versus XIII, the coming of FF XIV’s massive reboot, or other non-FFXIII stuff, Square is proceeding on their hellbent quest to make Lightining’s story into the next Super Mario of the video game world. After teasing a “new direction” for the virulent series, Square Enix finally unveiled Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII for the PS3 & 360 during the 25th Anniversary event.
The game, ironically claiming to end Lightning’s story despite its title, is pretty light on details so far, but a few scant details have been lifted from the event. For one, Lightning is loaded with customizable gear, and, uh… there’s some new artwork featuring locales, characters, monsters, and stuff in the video above. Hey, at least the concepts look beautiful!
