Beneath a Steel Sky 2 Officially Confirmed

Back when Revolution Software Kickstarted their newest entry in the beloved point & click adventure series Broken Sword, The Serpent’s Curse, they were only asking for $400,000 to create the game. Once the Kickstarter easily vaulted that figure, the team promised that, if the funding reached over $1,000,000, they’d also create a sequel to one of the genre’s greatest titles, Beneath a Steel Sky.

Well, Revolution only hit around $800,000 once the Kickstarter closed, but they’ve chosen to go ahead and make Beneath a Steel Sky 2 for the hell of it. Complain about Kickstarter all you want, but it’s pretty nice to know that at least one company is definitely proving they’re putting the excess funds to good use.

“We’re delighted by the recent level of interest in a sequel to Beneath a Steel Sky and are currently discussing design ideas for this project, which we plan to go into development following the release of Broken Sword: The Serpent’s Curse,” the studio’s co-founder, Tony Warriner, revealed. “We’re deeply touched that our Steel Sky fans are as enthusiastic today as they were when the original game released in 1994.”

You can look forward to The Serpent’s Curse sometime early next year; presumably, BSK2 will be launched after Q2 2013.
