A week or so ago, we reported on a bunch of trademarks for old Model 2 arcade games filed by Sega for digital marketplaces. It looks like we were on the cusp of their official revelation, as the company has revealed a bunch of their classic, and obscure, fighting games coming to PSN and XBLA in the near future.
The games included in this barrage of vintage brawlers include Virtua Fighter 2 (a pure arcade port!), Fighting Vipers, Virtual-On, Cyber Troopers, and Virtua Strike. These games will all be priced at the equivalent of $10 each and launch separately from one another, which is a decent price given the rarity of these games, though one might question why they’re not in some kind of bundle (or compiled for a retail release).
Also included in the trailer above is Sonic the Fighters, which I will admit to never knowing about before the trademark slipped a while back. Now that I’ve seen it in action, though? I’m not sure what the fuck was even going on, but that looks like it’s worth $10 to me.
All the games, unfortunately, have not been confirmed for a release outside of Japan. It is Sega, though; most of their major digital efforts have cruised overseas eventually. We’ll inform you once we know the latest!
